Ian Stewart is an internationally-renowned mathematician and Professor of Mathematics at the University of Warwick, dividing his time equally between research into nonlinear dynamics and furthering public awareness of mathematics. His current interests focus on the dynamics of networks. His books include Does God Play Dice? (Penguin, 1989), Letters to a Young Mathematician (Basic Books, 2006), Why Beauty is Truth (Basic Books, 2007), as well as (with Jack Cohen) The Collapse of Chaos (Penguin, 1994), Figments of Reality (Cambridge University Press, 1997) and What Does a Martian Look Like (Ebury, 2002).
