As well as being the author of several bestselling novels, including Atomised, filmed by Oscar Roehler in 2006, Platform, The Possibility of an Island, and most recently Submission. He has published several books of poetry (collected in Poésies, Paris: J’ai Lu, 2000) and various essays—notably his 1991 book on H. P. Lovecraft, Against the World, Against Life (tr. D. Khazeni, Believer Books, 2005). He now lives and works in Ireland.
