EXCERPT I find myself on a narrow street, cars parked tightly on one side, doors to different buildings on the other. As I walk to the nearest doorway, an entrance to a multi-level apartment building, a man and a woman cross my path. They both give me really scathing looks and start hissing confidentially to each other once they have cleared me. I see that she is wearing a scarf. I need to get the scarf on. I put it on as I stand in the doorway. The buzzer system has ten buttons; I press them all and wait. No one answers…
